We get a fresh start in just a few days when the last day of the year falls away. Get ready to turn the page and start anew with these suggestions for productivity and peace, offered up by Life as MOM contributor, Prerna Malik.
One of my goals {not resolutions!} for 2013 is to be not just more productive but also, more intentional and peaceful about my productivity.
You see, productivity for me is not about exhausting myself and my family with a flurry of activity, a constant busyness, a perpetual desire to do something. It’s characterized by peace as well as good work.
Here’s how I will continue to be more productive and peaceful in 2013 and create a fulfilling life as a mom and entrepreneur:
1. Prepare for Productivity
One of the first things I will be doing is preparing for a productive year ahead both as a homemaker and a businesswoman. What this means is getting my home management notebook ready for 2013 right now.
I’m going to print out the printables I need from Jessica’s Organizing Life as Mom eBook and put them together in a binder ready and waiting to be used on the 1st of January.
Also, since I manage a couple of businesses and work with clients across the globe, I set up systems that help me to be more productive and profitable. From choosing shopping cart options that are streamlined and painless to using services to organize my business paperwork and tax receipts, I have everything organized and tested for a stress-free start to the year.

2. Take Action… Now
As someone who spends a considerable time online and buried in books, I often tend to make big plans and lists. However, acting on those plans and lists is what makes me productive. Whether it is checking off just one thing or applying just a fraction of what I learnt, doing so is important. You can study as much as you like but if you don’t apply what you learn, that knowledge is wasted.
Want to increase your productivity instantly? Do just this one thing. Take Action. Every single day.
3. Learn to Know What You Can and Can’t Do
Living in a world that is filled with pinboards of gorgeous homes, organized workspaces, decadent food is an easy way to want to do
everything and then some. Learning to say, ‘That isn’t for me” and accepting that it’s okay you can’t do everything is a simple but surefire way of increasing your productivity.
As a mom that often means I don’t do complicated crafts with my daughter so that I can spend time on my business. We’re happy to just get messy with crayons and paint. As an entrepreneur, it means I don’t attend as many conferences and events as my counterparts so that I can get messy with my daughter and those paints.
Yes, peaceful productivity is about saying ‘yes’ to what works for you. You’ll be happier. Your kids will be happier. Your business will be happier.
How will you be a more productive and peaceful mom in 2013?

Ever heard of The Whole 30? It's a nutritional reset and restricted diet to help you heal your body and help you determine which foods might be giving you trouble. I started about a week ago and am daily blogging my experience eating dairy-, soy-, grain-, sugar-, and alcohol-free. And it's not too bad. Need some encouragement to try an elimination diet?
